This weekend is really busy locally, with the Llanfair Caereinion Show and the Welshpool/Llanfair Light Railway Gala - plus the Wesh Food Festival is at Glansevern Gardens... so, if you've not already booked, it might be hard to find somewhere...

If you're coming this weekend, the forecast is pretty good - so hope you enjoy your time in Mid Wales.

Here's what is being said about us:

"Excellent B&B, fantastic. Beautifully decorated, wonderful hosts, Fiona & Norman can't do enough. Beautiful location and heartily recommend the food for evening meals here too. Thank you." Nina & Ged, Ellesmere Port.

"Perfect. Couldn't wish for anything better. Good food, lovely location. Great hosts." Dilwyn & Wendy, Anglesey.

"Lovely B&B, great breakfasts, very comfortable night's sleep. Great attention to detail." Katie, Aberystwyth.

So, why not come along and experience for yourself?

Welcome to Gwaenynog Farmhouse B & B

...a place to relax, unwind and escape

We would like to welcome you to our home... where we have spent many hours lovingly refurbishing our house to welcome you as a guest.

Gwaenynog is a beautiful B&B in a quiet and scenic location, about a mile from the River Vyrnwy at Dolanog and a 5 minute drive from Llanfair Caereinion in Mid Wales, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The stunning views and wildlife of Lake Vyrnwy are also just 9miles away. We are at approx 600 feet above sea level, so have some amazing views, including the imposing presence of Moel Bentyrch.Front of house

You will be assured of a warm welcome at our high quality B&B. There are extremely comfortable beds, powerful showers, sumptuous towels, fragrant shower gels and shampoos. There's a choice of teas and coffee in all the rooms with fresh milk, flat screen TV’s with Freeview & DVD players, and if you must, Free WIFI; With varying views from every window, each bedroom has its own distinctive character.

Take tea and homemade cake or scones after your journey to help you unwind. Relax in the guest lounge, listen to the radio, watch television, or use the free Wireless Internet connection. Or simply watch the resident birds - we have a wide variety of birdlife here, due to having 3 types of habitat surrounding the farmhouse: woodland, wetland and open fields.

After a relaxed night's sleep rise for a leisurely cooked breakfast of locally sourced ingredients or perhaps something lighter. Our breakfasts are plentiful and varied – with vegetarian options too if you let us know in advance - all made from the best locally sourced produce.

A little bit about the place

Originally part of a much larger working farm, Gwaenynog now has 16 acres of land with sheep grazing happily, although not our own just yet... Look out for the lambs from March/April! They have made themselves at home and seem to enjoy exploring the meadows, ponds and streams of Gwaenynog.

Our bluebell woodWith lovely gardens surrounding the house, plus fields and woodland beyond, we are situated in a secluded and peaceful area but near to many wonderful sights.

Some of the birds we have recently seen/heard visiting Gwaenynog are: Heron, Peregrine, Buzzards, Tawny Owl, Willow Warbler, Sparrow, Wren, Dunnock, Coal Tit, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Greater Spotted Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Redstart, Wheatear, House Martin, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Pied Wagtail, Mallard, Marsh Tit, Reed Bunting, Spotted Flycatcher, Stock Dove, Wood Pigeon, Carrion Crow, Magpie, Raven, Garden Warbler, ChiffChaff, Treecreeper, Long-tailed Tit, Starling, Siskin, Blackcap, Songthrush, Bullfinch, Lapwing, Mistle Thrush, Swallow and Curlews. These are what we have seen/heard personally - or been advised of by our birding guests, but we're sure there are even more that we have just not spotted yet. With the sunny spring weather, its been a joy to listen to the birds in the garden - and to wander amongst the bluebells in our woodland.

Why not come and listen, and explore for yourself?
