Food & Drink
At Gwaenynog we offer a range of breakfast options, using the best of local produce. Food is such an integral and important part of everyone’s life, so we have taken the time to test out all the local produce to find the best there is – all done willingly, of course!
For our traditional, cooked-to-order breakfasts we use:
- Locally cured bacon
- Hand-made butcher sausages
- All meat is from our local butchers, using meat produced in the area
- Our tea and coffee is Fair Trade
Breakfast is served in the guest dining room, which is our combined lounge/diner, exclusively for B&B guests to use.
We offer a varied menu, but ask only that you give us your preferences the night before. This not only saves on waste, it means it’s all cooked fresh-to-order and served individually at your chosen time. Should you change your mind, we will try our best to accommodate. We now offer the pre-order online here.
In addition to the traditional breakfast we also offer a range of lighter dishes, such as scrambled eggs and smoked salmon or smoked haddock with a poached egg, or there’s proper porridge. We also have a selection of cereals, fruit compote with natural yoghurt. We’ve added more vegan options too – all our bread is suitable for vegans.
You can take time to relax and enjoy breakfast with a pot of freshly brewed tea of your choice or a Cafetière of fresh ground coffee, toast, preserves and juices. This is an ideal time to plan your day ahead.

If you have any special dietary requirements, just let us know in advance and we’ll do our very best to accommodate. Breakfast is served from 8-9.30am, but again, if you require an earlier breakfast we’ll aim to accommodate this.
With new legislation requiring that we notify of any of the 14 allergens, if you’re at all concerned, please take a look at our evening meals or breakfast menus where each one is highlighted. If you’re in any doubt, please just call us.
We offer as much Fairtrade as we can. All our teas and coffees carry the Fairtrade mark.
We also offer evening meals – we are not a restaurant, but what we have is good quality home-cooked food, with lots of flavour – and plenty of it. (See the menu.) We’re also licensed, so can offer a selection of wines, beers and spirits. (See List.) Usually, we serve dinner at 6.30-7 pm.
Alternatively, you could choose to eat in our Dutch Barn – we offer bar meals and takeaways for campers. Our Menu is here.
Or you could, of course, eat at one of the places nearby to Gwaenynog – see the eating out.
